SENIORS CELEBRATE NEW BUS AND EQUIPMENT
State Government funding has helped Woolgoolga Seniors’ Centre buy a new bus and
purchase much-needed equipment.
Funding of $50,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund has allowed Woolgoolga
Seniors to buy their new bus, which has already begun carrying passengers. Woolgoolga
Lions kindly contributed $20,000.
This means local residents will benefit from low cost, day and overnight trips for seniors in
our area.
Since a further $5000 grant was approved by Acting Minister for Seniors Geoff Lee,
Woolgoolga Seniors have been busy buying items which have been on their wish list for a
long time.
Some members of the indoor bowling group are encountering mobility issues and find it
increasingly difficult to take part, so the new mechanical bowlers arms will help keep
participants in this sport for longer, promoting physical and emotional wellbeing.
The Seniors’ Centre has also used their grant to invest in equipment to reduce window glare,
and to buy new kettles which reduce the risk of scalding.
The Woolgoolga Seniors’ Centre provides an important outreach in our community and I am
delighted the State Government has been able to support them in this way.
