Counsellor Keith Rhoades, Mayor of Coffs Harbour
Bill Singleton, Chairman of the Bananacoast Community Credit Union
Brenton Bennett, President Woolgoolga Lions Club Inc.
John Burkey, District Governor of Rotary District 9650 and Dorothy Dick Matthews, President Rotary Club of Woolgoolga Inc.

The Rotary Club of Woolgoolga Inc had a vision to have a senior’s centre and their vision was fulfilled when the New South Wales Guides agreed to relinquish the lease on the Crown land where the existing Guide Hall stood. Rain delayed the removal, however, once the skies cleared the hall was relocated to a private property at Hearns Lake Road.

The Rotary Club of Woolgoolga was successful in its application for funding to the Federal Government with Luke Hartsuyker member for Cowper presenting Woolgoolga Rotary with the initial $50,000 which enable the club to commence work on the senior centre.

Rotary pledged $50,000 towards the centre, and the Federal Government approved a grant of $137,500, however it was expected the project would cost in the vicinity of $280,000. Application was made to the State Government for funding, but no reply was received.

On Wednesday 4th June 2003 members of Woolgoolga Rotary club were on site to supervise and assist in the pour for the foundation slab.

After months of discussion and delays, club members were relieved to see the project move to the next stage. Once the slab had cured, work immediately began on the frame.

The Woolgoolga Lions Club assisted in the completion of the Woolgoolga Senior Citizens Centre by the provision of a cash injection.

The Woolgoolga Rotary Club were pleased to receive a donation of $20,000 to cover the cost of air conditioning for the centre.
