SENIORS CELEBRATE NEW BUS AND EQUIPMENT
State Government funding has helped Woolgoolga Seniors’ Centre buy a new bus and
purchase much-needed equipment.
Funding of $50,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund has allowed Woolgoolga
Seniors to buy their new bus, which has already begun carrying passengers. Woolgoolga
Lions kindly contributed $20,000.
This means local residents will benefit from low cost, day and overnight trips for seniors in
our area.
Since a further $5000 grant was approved by Acting Minister for Seniors Geoff Lee,
Woolgoolga Seniors have been busy buying items which have been on their wish list for a
long time.
Some members of the indoor bowling group are encountering mobility issues and find it
increasingly difficult to take part, so the new mechanical bowlers arms will help keep
participants in this sport for longer, promoting physical and emotional wellbeing.
The Seniors’ Centre has also used their grant to invest in equipment to reduce window glare,
and to buy new kettles which reduce the risk of scalding.
The Woolgoolga Seniors’ Centre provides an important outreach in our community and I am
delighted the State Government has been able to support them in this way.

e-NEWS SHEET
21 May 2020

Dear Members

With a glimpse of light at the end of our long isolation tunnel, this week we see a number of restrictions easing and we are so looking forward to reopening the WSC very soon. Once we are advised by Government authorities that it is safe to do so.

Committee Meeting - Members met yesterday to discuss future plans for WSC upon its reopening in the not too distant future.

The Committee will meet again on 03/6/2020.

There will be changes to events held previously and will be advised to Members in due course.

Membership Renewals - Members will have received yesterday an email invitation to renew membership which is due for payment by 30/6/2020. We look forward to your continued support.

Annual General Meeting - will be held first week of August 2020 (date to be confirmed). Please consider applying for a Committee position as three current Committee Members are not re-standing and these positions need to be filled to operate effectively.

New Bus - as advised previously WSC have received a grant of $50,000 from the NSW Government for the purchase of a new bus. Quotes have been received for the purchase of a 12 seater bus.

Bus Trips - a draft schedule of local and away trips has been presented to the Committee and once we have reopened these trips will be offered to Members.

We need your feedback and encourage you to email your ideas/suggestions to woolgoolgasc@gmail.com

Early release superannuation 2020

For those of you looking to access Superannuation payment. 😡😡

Please be aware- Have seen a few articles on the early access to super program - people accessing through the ATOs website with stolen credentials the targets superannuation and other claiming to be intermediaries to Access it are transferring unsuspecting clients while balance to a recently opened self managed super fund and one man $ 10k to their fraudulent business account and disappeared after they had it sometimes they have transferred this to offshore accounts ATO HAS CONFIRMED THIS so just check your balances and if you have Insurance via your super as a free inclusion make sure. You have the box ticked to continue your coverage as accounts that have less than 6000 in them at the 1st of April and or are inactive for over 18 mths without contributions these will. Automatically default to no cover for TPI//INCOME / or what ever else you had like funeral life insurance and nominate your beneficiary so Hovernement doesn’t take control of it if you have a sudden shortening life expectancy you weren’t expecting - got till end of the month to get the super ducks in a row !

e-News Sheet April 2020

WOOLGOOLGA SENIORS’ CENTRE

e-NEWS SHEET
06 April 2020
Dear Members

We hope you are all well and managing to stay safe and connected. COVID-19 has significantly disrupted our lives and every day we need to adapt. The Centre will not resume operations until we are advised by Government authorities that it is safe to do so. We deeply regret this situation.

New Bus
We are so thrilled to have received monies from NSW Government to purchase a new bus!!! Extract from Gurmesh Singh presentation hereunder.

“Today I announced $50,000 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund to improve social inclusion and meet the needs of our ageing population. The Woolgoolga Seniors Centre has secured these funds for the purchase of a new bus, which will see residents across the Coffs Harbour electorate benefit from low cost, day and overnight trips for seniors in the area.
The centre’s existing bus is over 12 years old and is becoming a financial drain due to its age.”

The purchase of a new bus will assist greatly with what the WSC can offer by way of bus trips to Members. We need your feedback and encourage you to email your ideas/suggestions to woolgoolgasc@gmail.com

When the Centre reopens, the following will be scheduled:
  • overnight bus trips away
  • shopping trips
  • local sightseeing trips

Thank you
Gurmesh Singh took time to thank and congratulate Irene, our Grants Coordinator, on her excellent submission to obtain this grant money. We are also very proud of Irene’s hard work and a huge thank you goes her way.

Annual General Meeting has been re-scheduled for later in the year - date to be advised.

Membership Renewal - Members will receive invitation to renew membership during May/June
